The Kenyan champions dominated their Rwandan counterparts in first two sets before Sammy Mulinge’s side recovered to win third but it was GSU who took the fourth to win the game 25-18, 25-13, 21-25, 25-22 in pool C.
Following two defeats, it means APR cannot proceed to the quarter-finals as only the top two teams in each pool qualify while the third and fourth-ranked teams play for the 9 to 16 positions.It was their second consecutive loss after losing to the Algerian side Bourj Bouaririj 25-10, 25-13, and 25-14. By press time, APR were due in action against Nemo Stars of Uganda.
Meanwhile in the national league, Umubano Blue Tigers continued their poor start to the season after losing to Lycee de Nyanza 3-1 and Kigali Volleyball Club 3-0 on Saturday and Sunday respectively, while Rusumo High School beat Kirehe 3-2.
