As a way of developing sport in the country, the Rwanda Cycling Federation (Ferwacy) has organised a one-day competition dubbed ‘Eastern Circuit Race’ on Saturday.
The race, which will cover a total distance of 151km, is expected to attract local riders from all clubs recognised by Ferwacy. The race will start from Amahoro national stadium and end in Nyagatare.
The clubs expected to take part include; Benediction Club (Rubavu), Cycling Club for All (Huye), Cine Elmay (Nyamirambo), Les Amis Sportifs (Rwamagana), Kiramuruzi Cycling Team (Kiramuruzi), Fly Cycling Team (Gasabo).
According to officials in the local cycling federation, the aim of Saturday’s race is to increase the number of races on the national calendar in a bid to give riders more competition options.
Ferwacy want to give more young talented riders chance to compete in as many competitions as possible which would help them to improve before competing in continental and international races in future.
