Rwanda national football team, the Amavubi Stars will play Zambia in an international friendly match on March 29 in Lusaka as part of preparations for Chan 2016.
According to the Ferwafa president Vincent ‘Degaule’ Nzamwita, the team will connect to Lusaka four days after Rwanda U23 team plays against their South African counterparts on March 25 in Johannesburg.
Rwanda plans to play against formidable African teams as the Wasps prepare for Chan 2016, Afcon 2017 qualifiers as well as the 2018 World Cup qualifiers which will start in July and October respectively.
The U23 team is preparing for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games first round qualifiers against Somalia with the first leg scheduled for the weekend of April 24/25 and the return leg two weeks later in Mogadishu.
"We will play with South Africa on March, 25 and then, travel to Zambia and we believe that, our players will gain a lot in these games. We want the team to plan many games as it will give the players the much needed experience playing against big teams,” Nzamwita told Times Sport on Thursday.
The 2016 African Nations Championship (Chan) will be held in Rwanda from January 16-February 7.
In previous three friendly matches, Amavubi drew away with Morocco 0-0 on November 14, 2014, Burundi 0-0 in Kigali on December 20, 2014 and Tanzania 1-1 in Mwanza in January.
