Following positive results at three cycling competitions on the UCI Africa Tour this year, Team Rwanda has embarked on yet another journey in search of continental success, this time at the Grand Tour d’Algerie from March 6-30.

A gruesome three weeks under humid and windy conditions in the North African country lies ahead but with the rewards at stake, the Rwandan riders have nothing but determination and focus to counteract the challenge at hand.

It is with such confidence that team Captain Janvier Hadi who has never competed in Algeria admitted that, "We recuperated well after the La Tropical Amissa Bongo tour in Gabon and we are ready for this challenge. It will not be easy but we are up to the challenge.”

The side which will be coached by national team head coach Jonathan ‘Jock’ Boyer is comprised of the 2014 Tour du Rwanda winner Valens Ndayisenga, Bonaventure Uwizeyimana (winner of the U-23 category in Gabon), Jean Bosco Nsengimana, Joseph Biziyaremye and youngster Jeremie Karegeya.

This year’s Grand Tour d’Algerie will comprise 10 different tours including Circuit International d’Alger, Tour International d’Oraine, Grand Prix de la Ville d’Oran, Tour International de Blida, Criterium International de Setif, Tour International de Setif, Tour Internationale de d’Annaba, Tour International de Constantine, Circuit International de Constantine and Criterium International de Blida.

Team Rwanda will be hoping to get points from this event as the top eight riders at the end of the year will earn slots to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.
