Volleyball league champions APR have hired three key players to strengthen their side ahead of the forthcoming CAVB Africa Clubs Championships slated for March 5-17 in Sousse, Tunisia.
The trio includes center Vincent ‘Gasongo’ Dusabimana and left attacker Aimable Mutuyimana, both from INATEK as well as Nelson Murangwa from Rayon Sports.
The three are an addition to the recent new signings; right attacker Lawrence Yakan Guma, Helve Kagimbura and Barrack Rugira.
"They are the best players in the country right now, hope they will help us and will make our side stronger in this tournament,” APR coach Sammy Mulinge told Times Sport.
The Kenyan trainer added, "We have prepared for almost a whole month and I believe we will give our best, we know we are going to face tough teams but we want to challenge them.”
The team departed for Sousse this morning at 2am aboard Kenya Airways. On Tuesday APR played a warm-up game against the national team and won 3-2 at Amahoro indoor stadium in the game that lasted two hours.
The African Clubs volleyball Championship is considered as one of the most attractive volleyball competitions in Africa with more than 16 elite teams taking part.
The winner of the 13-day tournament will represent Africa at the 2015 Men’s Club World Championship which will be held in Brazil from May 5 to 10.
