AS Kigali       0-1    Police FC

Left back Mwemere Ngirinshuti scored the lone goal as Police FC defeated AS Kigali 1-0 in a re-arranged National Football League match played yesterday at the Kigali regional stadium.

Ngirinshuti converted a well taken free kick with his favourite left foot 30 yards from goal in the 17th minute into the right corner with the flat footed goalkeeper Shamiru Batte looking on helplessly.

The law enforcers pressed forward in search of another goal but captain Jacques Tuyisenge’s runs on the right wing did not amount to much after AS Kigali’s defense stepped up to the occasion.

AS Kigali’s striking partnership of Ernest Sugira and Isaie Songa squandered several chances in front of goal but notably goalkeeper Marcel Nzarora commanded between the posts and his efforts rewarded Andre Cassa Mbungo’s side with three points against his former employers.

Police moved into third place with 28 points, three behind second-placed AS Kigali—APR lead the table with 38 points.

Mbungo attributed the victory to his side’s "determination and zeal to secure three points”. He said, "We have been playing well recently but we were unable to win so today’s win was a reward for our efforts.”

AS Kigali head coach Eric Nshimiyimana blamed the loss on the lack of alertness in the final third which denied his side goals that are essential in winning a game.
