After defeating Nyagatare 1-0 on Wednesday, Pépinière FC have shifted focus on their next second division league match against Heroes FC on Sunday at Ndera grounds.
Patrick Nduwayezu scored the lonely goal of the game to help Pépinière grab an away win on match day 4 in Pool A—it is now two wins in two following the 5-1 mauling of Gitikinyoni on Sunday.
Pépinière FC coach Cox Muleyi told Times Sport on Thursday that he was impressed by his team’s form but also cautioned his players against complacency.
He said, "We have a fully fit squad and I hope the boys will be ready for Sunday’s game against Heroes FC, which is going to be equally tough.”
The Kenyan-born former Rayon Sports defender is also confident his youthful side can give the favourites a run for their money in the race for promotion to the topflight division.
Elsewhere in Pool A, La Jeunesse beat Heroes FC 2-0 to maintain their top spot after a perfect start of four wins in four.
Vision Jeunesse routed 3-1 SEC Academy, Ruyenzi-based Gitikinyoni lost 2-0 to Vision FC, Nyagatare while Kicukiro-based ASPOR won 2-1 over Etoile de l’ Est.
In pool B, Rwamagana beat Bugesera 2-1, Sorwathe stunned AS Muhanga with a 1-0 hard fought win, Unity FC beat 2-0 Kirehe, Golden Generation thrashed Interforce 4-0 while Miroplast and Intare drew 0-0 at Mironko plastic industries round.
