I learnt with interest that passengers would be compensated whenever they get involved in an accident.

We are still to see how practical it is, but this is not what is important. All we should do is to avoid accidents, for you cannot compensate life with money.

Drivers cause death and not accident as we claim. When you over-speed a vehicle that is in a dangerous mechanical condition (DMC) and you overturn it, do you call that an accident?

No, an accident happens when an unfortunate thing comes your way unknowingly.

Most of our drivers drive the DMCs recklessly, at very high speed and on very narrow roads.

They have successfully managed to beat all traffic police traps by a mere finger sign.

We therefore remain vulnerable and only at their mercy as we travel in their taxes.

If we cannot check the driver’s speed, we should sit and wait for fate.
