Defending champions, AS Kigali beat Gakenke-based Freedom FC 3-1 to maintain their perfect start to the season in the national women’s league after three matches.

The City of Kigali-sponsored AS Kigali won the last two league crowns unbeaten and signs are that they intend to keep the record this season, according to head coach, Grace Nyinawumuntu.

The holders notched a third straight win thanks to goals from Anne Marie Ibangarye, Saida Ntagisanimana and Marie Jeanne Nyirahafashimana.

Elsewhere, Kamonyi, who finished second last season, were held to a goalless draw by Gicumbi-based Inyemera, Bugesera beat Girls Academy of Muhanga 3-1, Golden Generation and Rambura drew a 1-all draw while Huye-based Atletico FC beat Nyagatare 2-0.
