Sunrise Football Club have appointed former Amavubi striker Jimmy Mulisa as the club’s new technical Director to replace Jean Marie Ntagwabira who passed on early this month.
"We had several discussions with Mulisa and he impressed us with his philosophy and what he intends to bring to this club. We have decided to hire him until the end of the season with an option of extending his stay at the club,” Sunrise team manager, Eric Muvunyi confirmed.
Mulisa’s major task will be to identify young talented players in the Eastern Province and bring them to the club for further development.
The 31-year-old will also act as an intermediary between the coach and the board and is expected to relieve pressure on Coach Theiry Nzunga from day-to-day coaching.
Mulisa was part of the Amavubi team that qualified and played in the Africa Cup of Nations in 2004.
He played for APR from 2002-2005 before signing for Belgian second division club RAEC Mons in 2005, where he played for one season and later joined another side KRC Mechelen in 2007. In 2013–2014 season, he returned to Belgium second division A.F.C. Tubize and he also played for T-Team of Venezuela before returning to Rwanda this year.
Rwamagana-based Sunrise FC are in tenth position in the national football league with 18 points after 15 matches. They have 3 wins, 3 losses and nine draws.
