Lawrence Yakan Guma has been signed by his old club APR ahead of the league start on Saturday. The 28-year-old was released by Turkish side Palandoken Belediye in November last year after suffering a knee ligament injury. He had played for the team for just three months.
"We have signed one of the best players in the region and he will not only help us perform well but also add some experience to our youthful side,” APR coach Sammy Mulinge said.
The Uganda-born right front-attacker started his career at Ugandan side Sport-S before joining Kigali Volleyball club (KVC) in 2005 from where he signed for APR two years later.
In 2011, he joined Algerian side Etoile Sportif Setif (ESS) where he helped the team to the Algerian Super Cup in 2012 and was also named the Most Valuable Player.
Yakan has been a regular for the national team since 2006.
Meanwhile APR has started training for this year’s Africa Club volleyball championship slated for March 5-17 in Sousse, Tunisia
