The Cricket season kicks off on Sunday with two new clubs-Kigali Warriors and Fawe Girls School making their debut in the 3rd edition of the Naidu T20 tournament.
The tourney which runs from February 22- 17 May will attract five women’s teams and nine teams in the men’s category.
All games will be played at the Kicukiro Cricket oval.
"We have good players who love the game so we hope to also challenge for titles in all competitions,” Kigali Warriors Cricket club president Dinesh Vachakkara Rajendran said.
White Clouds Cricket Club and Challengers Cricket Club are the defending champions in the women and men’s categories respectively.
Cash prizes of 100,000 and 50,000 for the winners and runners up respectively will be awarded in both the women and men’s categories.
The most promising young cricketer in the tournament will be given "Yuvan Ply & Laminates Award,” which comes with a cash prize Rwf50,000.
