Bhullar was addressing business information technology students from Rwanda Tourism University College (RTUC) who were on a learning tour at the telecom headquarters in Kigali on Friday, writes Times Reporter.

He said apart from gaining practical experience out of the classroom, hands-on trainings have been seen to aid students narrow their professional focus; a step towards career shaping.

"We hope the hands-on training you have received will widen your understanding of information technology,” he said, adding that the training was part of the firm’s social responsibility mission of empowerment and unlocking potential of young Rwandans.

"We want to empower the young generation with skills that will help shape their career. Our primary focus is in the fields of science, technology, engineering and maths,” Bhullar noted.

Kudan Kumar, a lecturer at RTUC said the training helped the students have more rounded experience and elevated their understanding of the theoretical concepts.”

Airtel recently hosted students from Integrated Polytechnic Regional Center South, who received hands-on training in networks and IT.
