She is accompanied by a delegation of almost twenty high-level officials from different UAE institutions who will have working sessions with their local counterparts in Kigali.
'The visit marks a first step in the building of a strong partnership between the two countries', a statement from the foreign ministry reads.
This comes after President Paul Kagame visited Dubai to attend the 2nd Africa Global Business Forum on October 1-2, 2014.
The UAE minister is expected to visit Kigali Genocide Memorial in Gisozi and take a tour around the City of Kigali this afternoon, officials said.
Who is Reem Ebrahim Al Hashimi?
She is an Emirati Minister of State and managing director for the Dubai World Expo 2020 Bid Committee. She became Minister of State in the Cabinet of the United Arab Emirates in February 2008.
Reem Al Hashimi is chair of Dubai Cares, a children's education charity established by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum in 2007.
She also chairs the Emirates Competitiveness Council and the National Bureau of Statistics.
She was formerly the Deputy Chief of Mission at the United Arab Emirates' embassy in Washington, D.C, United States.
She is also the managing director of the Dubai World Expo 2020 Bid Committee.[
Reem Al Hashimi earned a BA in international relations and French from Tufts University. She received a Master’s degree from Harvard University 2014.
