Centre Footbalistic Training wins U-15 football league opener

The U-15 youth football championship started yesterday with Centre Footbalistic Training defeating Gatsibo 2-1in the boys’ category.

The U-15 youth football championship started yesterday with Centre Footbalistic Training defeating Gatsibo 2-1in the boys’ category.

Gatsibo scored first through Eric Mugisha on the 5th minute however Kiramuruzi based Centre Footbalistic Training team won the tie through second half goals from - Bosco Shema and Fiston Shema.

In the girls’ category Abarashi’s Arianne Akimanimpaye failed to convert a penalty in the 0-0 draw against Rugarama.

Action continues today in Nyanza with Gihisi playing Mugandamure in the boys’ category Nyanza takes on Gatagara in the girls’ fray.

The youth football league is expected to provide Ferwafa an opportunity of identifying and recruiting players from districts across the country.

The best players will be selected to attend training camps and will be coached by Ferwafa’s technical staff and qualified coaches. The camp will include on field sessions, guest speakers, lectures and classroom sessions.

This will enable the federation to monitor and evaluate players with an aim of selecting individuals for future national teams.
