APR start basketball league campaign against UGB

Former champions, APR start the hunt for their first national basketball league title since 2010 this afternoon when they face United Basketball Generation at KIST courts.

Former champions, APR start the hunt for their first national basketball league title since 2010 this afternoon when they face United Basketball Generation at KIST courts.

Cliff Owour’s side, who recently lost their senior player, Sunny Niyomugabo to newcomers, Patriots Basketball Club, signed two new players on Thursday.

The new signings include Forward, Ali Ruzigande and Point Guard, Ivan Nshimiyerwema; both from Saint Aloys Rwamagana.

Three-time Fiba Africa Zone V champions, APR also face new league entrants Patriots on Sunday at CSK at 11am in their second league match of the new season.

In other matches, reigning champions Espoir will kick-off the title defence against IPRC-South at KIST on Sunday at 1pm while last season’s first runners-up, Cercle Sportif de Kigali (CSK) host Rusizi on at 9am.

In the women’s league, defending champions Ubumwe take on newcomers The Hoops Rwanda at KIST at 9am on Sunday.
