Popular R&B singer-songwriter Tom Close has dropped his highly anticipated single, "Niyo Ikamena”.
The single, released on October 17, is Tom Close's first collaboration with rapper Fireman. The singer has previously collaborated on songs with different local artistes including Riderman, Bulldog, and Ziggy 55 among others.
This newest track is a follow-up to his 13-track album, "Essence” which has been enjoying massive airplay since its release in May, this year – as well as his first single for his forthcoming album.
The song was produced by IYZO Pro and was mixed and mastered by Bob Pro, prolific music producers noted for having added their unique touch to the single.
"Niyo Ikamena”, is a groovy track and sure leaves you joyful, inspired and makes you dance. In the song, Tom Close effortlessly weaves his vocals in between a calm and collective beat drenched in sensual bright melodies.
The lyrics and melodies to this song ring a bell for many. It touches on the necessity of letting go and looking forward to a bright future.
Speaking about the song, the soft-spoken singer said that he acknowledges the frustration and struggles people are forcing today, and reminds them that it is only God who can decide their fate -- not their enemies.

"The song is meant to empower people who are going through difficulties, and reminds them that it’s only God who can decide on their destiny –not their enemies,” Tom Close said.
"This is the kind of message a lot of my fans have known me for since I started singing. I have always been doing this kind of music – melodies of hope, resilience, and the importance of staying positive even during hardships,” he added.
Tom Close’s unique sound and delivery has had us gyrating to songs like "Fly Away”, "A Voice note”, "Mariwe”, "Don't Worry”, "Be My Teacher”, "Naba Umuyonga,” and "Ferrari.”
Tom Close, real name Thomas Muyombo, is also a professional medical practitioner, and the head of Blood Transfusion Service at Rwanda Biomedical Medical (RBC). He is also an artist/illustrator and author of children’s books.
The 36-year-old physician is considered one of the pioneers of modern Rwandan music, having started his music career in 2005, making what was a major breakthrough then, in 2007/2008.
The afro-R&B singer has remained true to the call, continuing to produce music, despite his fulltime job as a doctor.
