A group of seven members from UK Charity group Cricket Without Boundaries are in the country to train local coaches and also educate the youth about the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases like HIV/Aids.

The group arrived in the country last week and will be conducting the training sessions in Kigali, Kinihira, Gahanga and Huye Districts.

"Sports brings many people together and makes them share a lot of things,” said Robert Jones the team leader adding that they want to use it as a channel through which the youth can be sensitised about HIV/Aids.

Since 2008, CWB has partnered with Rwanda Cricket Association to undertake similar activities.

The visitors played a game on February 7 with a Rwandan select side at Kicukiro cricket ground. The visitors won the game by 7 wickets.

"Our partnership with CWB has been integral over the years in training Rwandan teachers how to coach cricket, introducing many young boys and girls to the sport, support with basic equipment, and relaying HIV/Aids awareness messages,” said RCA General Manager Joshua Mwanja.
