Scores of residents from Rulindo yesterday had the chance to present their complaints to Police when the Mobile Police Station Vehicle services reached out to them.

The service, where a mobile vehicle combs remote villages looking for residents who wish to file complaints or report injustices, is exclusively extended to areas located too far away from conventional police stations.

In Rulindo, the vehicle packed in a market in Base Sector, where officers recorded complaints from 40 residents.

The Director of Media at Rwanda National Police, Willy Marcel Higiro, said most complaints revolved around land disputes and family wrangles.

"Since its launch, last month, the Mobile Police Station Vehicle has been well-received by citizens countrywide, and it has enabled Police services to reach the remote citizens,” he said.

The Mayor of Rulindo, Jastus Kangwagye, who was at the scene, lauded Police for prioritising the needs of the public and urged residents to abide by the law and partner with Police through community policing.

The mobile service has so far served more than 200 residents since its first mission in Mugina Sector, Kamonyi District, on January 8.

Officials from the Ministry of Justice travel alongside Police officers whenever the vehicles head out for outreach operations, and provide advice and assistance to those in need.

RNP has three mobile station vehicles that cover areas seen to be in need of the service. Plans are undderway to increase the number of vehicles to traverse the whole country in the near future.
