National football league champions Atraco have offered Uganda Cranes’ assistant coach Sam Timbe a two-year to take over the reigns at the national league champions.
Atraco vice president Issa Ngenzi told Times Sport yesterday that Timbe will replace Jean Marie Ntagwabira who was sacked less than a month after guiding the club to the 2007/08 national league title.
"We have signed him on a two-year contract” Ngenzi said.
No financial details regarding the deal were released.
According to Ngenzi, Timbe is expected to arrive in Kigali latest on Monday to start the club’s preparations to the busy national, regional and continental calendar.
Timbe, who resigned recently after guiding Police to three loses in the Uganda Super League, is expected to come along with Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) pair Tony Maweje and Johnson Bagoole as his target recruitments for the Rwandan champions.
Atraco, who will represent Rwanda in next year’s African Champions League are in the market for players to strengthen their squad ahead of the next season.
Club officials have confirmed that the two Ugandan players (Bagoole and Maweje) will be their only foreign buys.
The other new players to come on board are Rwandans and they will be unveiled tomorrow (Saturday) according to Ngenzi.
With key players Patrick Mafisango and Ismail Nshutinamagara joining rivals APR and coach Ntagwabira walking out, club management is busy working around the clock to make sure everything is in right place before the new season kicks off on the 20th of this month.
Timbe, who has won two Kagame Cups with SC Villa in 2005 and Police in 2006, becomes the second Ugandan to coach Atraco following in the footsteps of Sam Ssimbwa who was sacked after one season despite guiding the club to second finish in the league, final of Peace Cup as well the second round of Caf Confederations Cup during the 2005/06 season.
His replacement, Ntagwabira followed him under unclear circumstances after guiding them to the national league.
What will Timbe add to the taxi-men club next season?
