The permanent secretary in the Ministry of Youth and ICT, Rosemary Mbabazi, has urged youth representatives from Kigali to inculcate into those they represent the culture of hard work for the development of the country.

Mbabazi, who was on Sunday presiding over the launch of a civic education camp (Itorero) for 350 youth representatives from Gasabo, Kicukiro and Nyarugenge districts, said the youth will only work hard if their leaders serve by example.

The weeklong camp, which is underway in Rulindo District, will see discussions centre on what role the youth can play in nation building.

The Itorero is organised by the Ministry of Youth and ICT, National Commission of Itorero, and the three districts of the City of Kigali.

"As representatives, you are leaders in your communities, meaning that those people you represent look up to you. Therefore, you must be time managers, work hard,and  be good role models,” PS Mbabazi said.

The chairperon of National Itorero Taskforce, Boniface Rucagu, told the youth that the purpose of such gathering was to continue shaping a better future for the country, through empowering the youth.

During camp, the participants will be given distinctive courses including self discipline, how to better fight against human trafficking, the culture of saving, a deeper understanding of the Ndi Umunyarwanda initiative, among others.
