Bitok names 23-man team for Zone V Championships

Head coach Paul Bitok has named a 23-player squad ahead of the Men’s Zone V Group One volleyball tournament, which will run from May 1-6 at Amahoro indoor stadium.

A pre-selection competition was staged at Amahoro on Sunday to pick the 23-man team that will start the training next week—the team will be training twice a week (Monday and Tuesday).

The Zone V Group One event will feature Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and hosts Rwanda. It will serve as the qualifier for the 2015 All Africa Games to be held in Congo Brazzaville from September 4 to 19.

The 23 local-based players will be joined by four professionals at a later date before the final team is named.

Provisional squad:

Setters: Herve Kagimbura, Bonny Mutabazi, Jean Paul Sibomana, Faustin Kiramira and Eugene Tuyishimye.

Middle blockers: Theodore Muyango, Fred Musoni, Fabrice Nkezabahizi, Vincent Dusabimana, William Mudahemuka and Pierre Marshal Kwizera.

Left attackers: Olivier Ntagengwa, Flavien Ndamukunda, Barrack Rugira, Patrick Kavalo and Aimable Mutuyimana.

Right attackers:  Evode Munyandinda, Adolphe Mutoni, Tony Shyaka and Yves Mutabazi.

Libero: Bosco Mutabazi, Emile ‘Dada’ Karera and Peter Bigirimana.

Professionals: Lawrence Yakan Guma, Nelson Muragwa, Christophe Mukunzi and Placide Sibomana.
