RUSIZI — A group of 64 people who will work as election observers during next week’s parliamentary polls were on Tuesday trained on various issues concerning elections.

The workshop that took place at Centre Pastoral Inshuti in Kamembe sector was organised by the Civil Society platform.

The trainees were drawn from various sectors of Nyamasheke, Rutsiro and Rusizi districts.

While addressing participants, Emmanuel Safari, an official from the Civil Society Platform urged them to work professionally during the polling.

"I encourage each and every individual here who will work as an election observer in your respective areas to work within the laws governing the civil society election observers,” he said.

He called on the participants to be very vigilant in order to ensure a free and fair exercise.

Safari also asked participants to work with integrity and to exhibit discipline during the exercise by giving true facts and information concerning the conduct of the elections instead of depending on rumours.
