The General Manager of Rwanda Cricket Association, Joshua Mwanja said interested candidates will be nominated by their respective clubs.
"I think I have achieved what I set out to do during my tenure as chairman of the Rwanda Cricket Association, however I feel a lot more remains to be done,” said Charles Haba the current president who declined to say whether he will run for another term.
Haba, who has been president of the association since its formation 15 years ago, says some of his achievements include increasing the number of cricketers from 2,000 to over 5,000 in the last two years, lobbying for the increase in the International Cricket Council annual grant to Rwanda from $25,000 to $100,000.
The executive committee serves a term of 2 years.
Haba also says that plans are underway to start constructing an ultra modern cricket stadium and adds that the number of sponsors has increased to include UAExchange and Xpress money, Computer Point, Bank of Kigali, Ministry of Education, National Olympic Committee, Mitsumi Distribution, IPRC, Narayan uniforms and sports.
The current executive committee has Charles Haba as the president, Srinath Vardhineni as vice-president, Emmanuel Byiringiro is secretary general, Steven Musaale (treasurer) while the position of women representative has just been introduced.
Srinath Vardhineni, said he has not thought of contesting for presidency as some people expect.
"Since Saturday morning, I have been receiving calls from many journalists asking me about the same thing, but I have not thought about it and at the moment I am the vice-president and that’s what you should take”, he said.
