Second division league kicks off

The second division football championship starts this afternoon with 24 clubs battling for the right to play in the top flight league next season.

The second division football championship starts this afternoon with 24 clubs battling for the right to play in the top flight league next season.

The rules were changed this season and no club will be allowed to field players above the age of 20. Ferwafa is keen to have a large pool of players that can play in the National U-15, U-17 and U-20 teams.

AS Muhanga and Esperance which were relegated last season are favourities to return to the top flight. Esperance will host Unity in Group B while Muhanga will take on Bugesera.

In other matches today in Group A, ASPOR take on newcomers Heroes FC, Etoile de l’Est play Hope FC, Gasabo host Nyagatare at ferwafa turf while Pepiniere and Vision FC square at Ferwafa turf.

In Group B, former Peace Cup semi-finalists,  Intare will be up against Sorwathe while Interforce takes on Rwamagana at Mumena artificial turf.

Tomorrow, there are two fixtures scheduled where United stars academy and Vision jeunesse battle for a victorious debut win in Group A while Akagera host new entrants Golden Generation.
