APR women interim coach Deo Nkurikiyinka has urged his ladies to make the most of home advantage ahead of the forthcoming Africa Zone V Club Championship which is due in Kigali from October 28 to November 4.

Kigali will host the regional club basketball competition which will attract teams from various African countries namely Uganda, Burundi, Tanzania, Kenya, South Sudan, and hosts Rwanda.

APR women last represented Rwanda in the continental showpiece in 2022 but they failed to impress, finishing in eighth place out of the 10 teams that took part.

Now that the competition comes to Kigali, Nkurikiyinka told Times Sport that his side is looking forward to using the home advantage to impress.

"Our chances have received a boost of hosting the tournament. We must make the most of home advantage,” he said.

The tournament acts as a qualifier for the 2023 FIBA Africa Champions Cup for Women which will take place in Egypt from December 8-17.
