Khizz Kizito, real name Kizito Hategekimana, works with Incredible Record Labels and DGTC LTD, a company that deals in wine importation and distribution. A computer engineering graduate, Khizz shared with Society Magazine’s Stephen Kalimba about his fashion preferences.

As a business oriented person and artiste what determines your style?

I always try to be flexible and I like simple clothes. I dress according to the occasion, day or people I am going to meet. But I always like outfits with one colour, if it’s a shirt it has to be a single colour. I always plan ahead what I’m going to wear for big events.

Do you have a designer?

I just figure out what I want to wear and get it. Clothes are everywhere; you just need to know what you want.

I have a tailor who makes trousers, he’s called Jacques at Kigali City Market, he’s fast, and not so expensive.

Where do you shop from?

I go anywhere where there are clothes. I just take what I like. There are shops I go to in town like Mr. Price and one below Simba Supermarket. I go to Nyamirambo too. It doesn’t have to be expensive.

What is your type of hairstyle?

That has always alternated depending on what I’m doing. I have done everything from afro, treated, and tinted, the cock hairstyle to dreadlocks and gentle haircuts.

And what do your parents think about your style?

They understand that I do music and fashion; it’s all showbiz. They have supported me in my music projects. But when I’m done with that, I will change my hairstyle to something more flexible.

What accessories do you fancy?

I like Relic watches; they are stylish and have one colour.I like sunglasses too; Ray-Bans are stylish and are good protection against the sun and stage lights. Simple rings work too, but only silver and not the shiny stuff.

What is your fashion weakness?

Sometimes I am reluctant to change. I always have a plan of what to wear but I ignore it and end up wearing something I wore before, which is not good.

What style do you think men should avoid?

Don’twear something that you’re uncomfortable with or something that will bother other people. In turn, you will also have peace. You don’t want people to stare (and not in a good way) when you hit the streets. Clothes send a message.

Any advice?

You will feel good when you dress like a gentleman. It doesn’t have to cost an arm and leg. I say this from experience. Be simple, neat and humble.
