Editor, Refer to the story, “New school shuttle service to enhance students’ safety” (The New Times, February 3). Much as this is a good initiative, it still has difficulties. First, it was implemented without prior informing parents so that they get ready for this development.

Refer to the story, "New school shuttle service to enhance students’ safety” (The New Times, February 3). Much as this is a good initiative, it still has difficulties.
First, it was implemented without prior informing parents so that they get ready for this development.
Second, it is not affordable, more especially for parents from the middle and low classes who pay transport fees for their children.
While these bus services have not established themselves, they are disturbing others involved in transporting children to schools more especially in lines where they have not yet reached. An example is of children studying in Gisozi, Kinyinya and Nyarutarama based schools—they are struggling to get buses to schools, yet parents paid transport fees to the former drivers.
