MUHANGA — The first mini expo in Ruhango was an opportunity for farmers to sell their products to other local markets.
These were the remarks of Catherine Mukayire, the Ruhango Vice mayor-in charge of economic affairs, at the closing of an agro-trade mini expo at the district grounds recently.
The trade expo attracted, nine sectors, over 40 local associations and farmers’ cooperatives. It was attended by large numbers of residents. Most of the products ranged from agricultural, livestock, to art and crafts.
Mukayire said, "The event has been long due and necessary achievement that exposes the activities of residents and open local entrepreneurs to wide trade knowledge base”.
Exhibiters lauded the district officials and the Private Sector Federation for organising the event.
They appealed to authorities to make the event annual, saying it would help them display their new products whenever they are available.
"Residents appreciated the local products and we have made good sales,” Ernest Twagiramungu, one of the exhibiters said.
Byimana sector emerged as best exhibiter followed by Kinihira and Kabagali sectors in the second and third place respectively.
Enterprise Nyirangarama, cooperative-CODECOMA, and Tuzamuranubushake were also awarded as the best enterprises respectively.
