Refer to the article, "Does civil marriage give leeway to divorce?” (The New Times, January 30)

Restrictions will not change anything. They will only increase pain and frustration for the individuals involved in the failing relationship. The problem is that, generally, we’ve decided to ignore the fact that some constituencies were exclusively reserved for God, and most people don’t believe in God, and even some that seem to, do so at the highest superficial level anyway.

Marriage is one of such institutions that God initiated and is supposed to sustain; but of course the individuals must be prepared to cooperate. Otherwise, if every vehicle owner wants to be an expert to fix all mec­hanical problems of their machines, there would be no moving vehicles on the road. They would end up messing up every system.

So it is not about the law; it is about acknowledging that the designer of marriage (God) is the only expert, and any couple that truly relies on His guidance alone, their marriage must succeed. Marriage is meant to be one of the permanent relationships, such as parents and children, siblings, etc.., that are never revised.

And more than these by the way, marriage is another version of creation because we’re no longer talking of separate individuals; but the two individuals becoming one body (not visible to the eye). It is supposed to be as serious as that.
