Amavubi Players to earn $1500 each

AMAVUBI Stars team assistant captain Ismail Nshutinamagara a.k.a Kodo has called upon his colleagues to put behind Mauritania victory and focus on the last qualifier of the 2010 World/Africa Cup qualifier against Ethiopia due next month in Kigali.

APR’s newly signed central defender who spoke on the behalf of the Amavubi team at the welcome back reception held at Amahoro stadium yesterday evening said, "We won to make Rwanda proud.”

"With God’s grace, we managed to defeat Mauritania and got maximum points and we need your support to beat Ethiopia at home in the last qualifier,” Nshutinamagara said.Nshutinamagara urged team mates not to relax but to start preparations for next month’s game.

As usual Croat Tucak Blanko continued his media blackout refusing to speak to the media about the Amavubi Stars victory giving excuse to fatigue but promised to hold a press conference on tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Sports and Culture has awarded each player a cash prize worth $ 1500.

Through its minister Joseph Habineza, the ministry further pledged to double the cash reward if the team reaches the final qualifying round.

The Amavubi Stars earned maximum points against Mauritania courtesy of Bobo Bola’s 81st header and is on the verge of reaching the final qualifying round.

Amavubi Stars who have lost once and won four are leading Group Eight with 12 points.

Morocco stands on second position with nine points as their game against Ethiopia was postponed after the world’s football governing body, Fifa banned Ethiopia because of the government’s interference in the sport of the country.

Rwanda will only need a draw at home against Ethiopia on October 12 if the ban is lifted to reach the final qualifying round.

Ethiopia lies on third spot with nine points while Mauritania lays bottom of the table with no point.
