Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) has opened new offices in Nyabugogo and Remera to facilitate motorists paying for the new electronic driving permits.
The move comes after the Lower Chamber of Deputies passed a Bill to issue new electronic driving licenses. It is hoped that the new permits will reduce counterfeiting the Rwandan permits.
"We want to decentralize the process so that drivers and other tax payers find it flexible and convenient to pay taxes,” Annet Birungi, RRA publicist said.
She added that drivers were traveling long distance and wasting a lot of time in lines at the revenue collection points.
"We are planning to open more offices in other areas to ease tax paying processes,” hopeful Biringi said.
Registration for the new electronic driving permits began mid last mouth with Kigali City.
The drivers have to pay Frw50,000 before they are issued the new permits.
