Police FC captain Jacques Tuyisenge has warned his teammates that any more loss will almost certainly rule them out of this year’s title race after a shock 1-0 defeat to Gicumbi on Wednesday.

Gicumbi’s Shadad Nsengayire scored the lone goal of the match that saw Emmanuel Ruremesha’s side move out of the relegation zone.

Police are in third place on the league log and entertain Kiyovu on February 4 at Mumena stadium. The law enforcers are four points behind second placed AS Kigali and eight adrift of league leaders APR.

Tuyisenge says the team needs to recover quickly and nothing less than a win against Kiyovu will put their title challenge back on track.

"Losing to Gicumbi at home is embarrassing but it happens in football; it’s now time to turn the page and focus on the next game against Kiyovu. Although the league campaign is still mid-way, we cannot afford to be losing such games, that’s what I have told my colleagues,” Tuyisenge said.

Meanwhile Emmanuel Ruremesha, the Gicumbi FC coach, said, "My boys did well, a 1-0 result against Police at home is a good result. However, there’s no time to relax, we must keep up the momentum if we are to stay in the league next season.”

The first match-day of the second round of the 2014-15 campaign saw all the top four teams stunned with reigning champions APR losing 1-0 to Musanze, AS Kigali being held on a 1-1 draw by Sunrise and struggling Rayon Sports drawing 1-1 with fifth-placed Amagaju FC.Police have never won the league title.
