Kipson Atuheire netted the lone goal as Musanze FC stunned league leaders APR 1-0 in Musanze yesterday as they started the second round of the National Football League in style.

Ex-APR forward Atuheire, who is on loan from Police FC as he awaits his Rwandan nationality to be approved by the Immigration office, was excited about scoring on his debut for the Northern Province side.

"I am so delighted that I scored on my debut and especially that the fans are very happy because we have started the second round on a high. It is important for us to return to winning ways,” said Atuheire.

Meanwhile, Shadad Nsingayire scored for Gicumbi as Emmanuel Ruremesha’s side shocked Police FC 1-0 at Kicukiro stadium.

The win sends Gicumbi into fifth position on the table standings with 23 points level with Rayon Sports, who drew 1-1 with Amagaju in Nyamagabe but stayed in fourth position thanks to a better goal difference of +8 against Gicumbi’s +1. Coach Andy Mfutila continues to search for his first win since he took charge of the Blues in November. Saiba Claude Mumbere opened the scoring in the first half for the home side before Rayon Sports captain Fuadi Ndayisenga equalized from the spot to earn a point for the Nyanza-based outfit.

At the Kigali regional stadium, AS Kigali squandered a chance to go within two points of APR who have 32 points at the top of the table when they were held to a 1-1 draw by a stubborn Sunrise FC side.

Jean d’Amour Bunani scored for the Rwamagana-based side before striker Bodo Ndikumana equalized for AS Kigali to earn a point for Eric Nshimiyimana’s side.

"I am contented with the draw because we did not do what we have been doing in training sessions. If you see the goal we conceded, it was because of a lack of concentration,” explained Nshimiyimana.

In Rubavu, Marines settled for a 2-2 draw against SC Kiyovu which is yet to win a game since November.
