Police FC have reached an agreement with APR FC to loan goalkeeper Steven Ntaribi to the army side in exchange for loan deals for midfielder Tumaine Titi Ntamuhanga and central defender Heritier Turatsinze until the end of the season.
Ntamuhanga and Turatsinze still have contracts with APR for two years but have failed to break in the starting line-up this season, while Ntaribi also still has two years left on his contract with Police.
APR spokesperson George Gatete said the club needs an experienced back-up goal keeper due to a long term injury that was suffered by first choice goalkeeper, Jean Claude Ndoli.
"We only have one experienced goalkeeper (Olivier Kwizera) yet we have reached a crucial stage in the national league, the Caf Champions league starts next month as well as the Peace Cup, so we need an experienced back-up goalkeeper,” Gatete said.
Police spokesperson, CIP Jean de Dieu Mayira said the club will evaluate Ntamuhanga and Turatsinze at the end of the season and see whether they can buy them on a permanent basis.
Meanwhile, Police have also loaned strikers Jimmy Mbaraga and Kipson Atuheire to Musanze FC after the Rwanda Football Federation and the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration released a statement saying that the duo don’t have documents showing that they are Rwandan nationals. Police only uses players who are Rwandan.
The Rwandan Football Federation last year set up a committee to investigate players who didn’t have the necessary documentation to show that they were Rwandans.
This came after Rwanda was banned from the 2015 African Nations Cup qualifiers for fielding a player with duo nationality.
The second leg of the National football league kicks off on Saturday. APR have a five point cushion at the top of the table.
