APR and Amavubi Stars goalkeeper Jean Claude Ndoli will still be out for another four months as he recovers from a career-threatening knee injury he suffered in July last year.

The development was confirmed to Times Sport on Thursday by his physiotherapist, Patrick Rutamu.

Rwanda international Ndoli damaged his right knee ligament on July 20 in Pointe Noire, Republic of Congo in the first-leg match of the 2015 Afcon second round qualifiers, a match Rwanda lost 2-0.

In November, the 29-year old headed to Algeria for an operation courtesy of a partnership between the Rwandan and Algerian football associations. He returned to the country earlier this month after six weeks of special treatment.

Speaking to this newspaper yesterday, the former Police FC goalkeeper said his recovery is going well and on schedule and he hoped to play a part in APR’s campaign before the season ends.

"It’s tough when you are not able to train, play or do anything to help your team, but I’m hoping to play at least in the later stages of Peace Cup,” he said.

He added, "The time I spent in Algeria, before, during and after the operation spared my career, otherwise I was at risk of not playing again.”

"The operation went so well and I’m confident I will return to play at the highest level possible for many more years,” a confident Ndoli added.

Ndoli is currently the long-serving player in APR having joined the 14-time champions in 2005 from Police FC.
