Espoir Basketball coach Jean Bahufite has challenged his players to make history by winning all five competitions they are involved in this season, starting with a pre-season tournament this weekend.

The national basketball will kick off on February 7 in both the men and women’s categories and will run for seven months.

Bahufite, who confirmed that he will bolster his squad with a couple of signings, wants his players to not only retain the league title but also win this year’s Fiba Africa zone Five championships, the play-offs, the Genocide memorial tourney, and a pre-season warm up tournament slated for January 24-31.

"The team was brilliant last season because we won four domestic trophies even tough we didn’t do well on the regional scene. That is why I am challenging my players to win every trophy available,” Bahufite said adding that his players are currently under intensive training ahead of the new season.

The Nyamirambo-based side has won the league three times as well as dominated the playoffs since 2012.
