Archrivals Rayon Sports and APR will meet on February 22 at the Muhanga stadium in the National Football League second round, according to the fixtures released yesterday by Rwanda Football Federation (Ferwafa).
The last time the two sides met at this venue was in October 2008 when they settled for a 1-1 draw with Albert Nyumbayire opening the scoring for Rayon Sports before Ndjoli Bokungu equalised for APR.
This clash has, for the last two decades, set the stage for a typical domestic derby, the biggest in Rwanda and will once again present a platform for bragging rights.
Last season, record league winners, APR won the first round encounter 2-1 before Rayon Sports defeated the military side 2-1 in the second round. This season, APR beat the Blues 2-1 and the latter will be hoping for revenge.
Meanwhile, the second round commences on January 27 with two fixtures pitting Isonga against Etincelles at the Kicukiro stadium while Mukura will host Espoir at the Muhanga stadium.
