Ian Rubimbura, a former pupil at Kigali City Parents, is over the moon after emerging third best in the country in last year’s Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) that were released on Monday.

Rubimbura, who scored a distinction one in each of the five subjects - Mathematics, Social Studies, English, Science and Kinyarwanda, says his dream to become a surgeon inspired him to read hard. 

The 12-year-old star, who was also a head boy at school, attributes his success to his supportive parents - Dominic Munyawera and Juliet Kabeera of Kimironko - and the committed teachers.

He hopes to join either Nu-vision or Green Hills Academy for secondary school and John Hopkins School of Medicine in the US for university education.
