Rayon Sports continued their poor run yesterday after being held to a goalless draw by a determined Mukura Victory Sport side in a tense game at Amahoro stadium.

Wasted chances by captain Fuadi Ndayisenga and the striking duo of Peter Otema and Jerome Sina in both halves left fans and the coaching staff lamenting at full time.

Substitute Frank Lomami could have put the Blues in the lead late into the game but he sent his shot wide to further frustrate Rayon Sports head coach Andy Magloire Mfutila.

The Congolese tactician, who jumped up and down on the touchline, prayed and looked up to the heavens but there was no divine intervention as the blues capped off a disappointing first round of the National Football League.

"We had so many chances in front of goal today and the players tried to score but were unlucky. Players did their best but they need confidence to perform. We played very well defensively but we need to score,” explained Mfutila.

Mukura head coach Geoffrey Okoko said, "I am very glad that we picked up a point because we were playing against a big club. However, we wanted to beat them and we got many chances but our finishing was not good enough today.”

Elsewhere, Police defeated Espoir 4-1 to move within three points of second placed AS Kigali that have 27 points at the end of the first round. Isonga held Musanze to a 1-1 draw at the Ferwafa ground while Amagaju picked maximum points against Etincelles in Nyamagabe.
