Rwanda will send ten players to the African Taekwondo Championships slated to take place from February 22 to 23 in Tunisia.
According to team coach Allain Bagire, the ten players include Martin Nduwayezu, Regis lyunva, Placide Bagabo, Savio Nizeyimana, Patrick Nkwiro, Cedric Mwemezi and Console Birori in the men’s category while Delphine Uwababyeyi, Zura Mushambokazi and Aline Ndacyayisenga will play in the women’s fray.
The experienced duo of Placide Bagabo and Console Birori who have participated in more than three international taekwondo competitions will play in the Middle and bantam respectively while Mwemezi will play in the light weight category.
Nduwayezu (fin weight), Nizeyimana (feather weight), Nkwiro (middle weight) as well as Lyunva will play in the fly weight category.
In the girls’ category, Uwababyeyi will play fin weight while Mushamboki and Ndacyayisenga will feature in bantam category.
The Taekwondo coach also revealed the players are now training twice a week in order to be in top form for the continental tournament.
