Bruce Melody
Bruce Melody is a talented musician and singer-songwriter. The singer has received huge success by sticking to live performances.
He says: "I’m shooting the video of my single, Ntundize. The song will be released at Alpha Palace Hotel in Remera on January 24. That is just the beginning for me. Then there will be concerts within Kigali and around the country.”
Phoebe Muyoboke, aka Jody
Jody is one of the latest entrants in the music industry. She is known for her singles Njye nawe, Intera, Tenderness, Ndacyashikanya, to mention a few. Her genre of music is Afropop that she at times fuses with soft reggae, R&B and dancehall. Jody says: "Well, it’s still early but something will definitely come your way.”
Eddie Mico
This young, talented and energetic gospel musician is out to do what he likes doing most—using his voice to praise and worship God. And he wants to make a difference in the lives of the youth that he meets.
Mico says: "I’ve been working with an American friend on the video of my song titled "I believe”. It will be out in less than two weeks.”
Prestige Band
Prestige Band is one of the best live music bands in the country. The band performs strictly on contracts only. It has performed at prestigious venues in Kigali, including at The Manor, Kigali City Tower (food court and Nakumatt), Legacy Hotel and Kigali Serena Hotel.
According to Steve Mureithi, the band’s keyboardist: "We are a Kenyan band but this year, we have embarked on recruiting Rwandan guitarists between the ages of 20 -21. We will also target corporate performances. If a chance arises, we will gladly perform for charity as well.”
Aline Gahongaire
Gahongaire is a famous Gospel musician and an events organiser.
She puts it this way: "I will start rolling in March but I’m already preparing my usual Big Size Show. Then there is a new album that will come out later in the year, plus shooting videos as well. I will also visit students in various schools across the country.
Fashion designers
Francis Iraguha
Francis Iraguha is the CEO of Francis Zahabu Limited, a renowned fashion house in Rwanda. He is also an actor. Iraguha says he was inspired by Zara Fashion, a Spanish clothing retailer to venture into the fashion industry.
About his ambitions for this year: "We already have new materials for new fabrics. This year is for more visibility – reaching where we haven’t been before.”
Christine Mbabazi
The newlywed fashion designer, TV and Radio 10 personality, Christine Mbabazi, is the founder of Christine Creative and Fashion House.
She says: "This is going to be a busy year for me, but right now I’m organising a fashion show that is slated for late February.”
Colombe Ndutiye Ituze
Colombe Ndutiye Ituze is a talented young fashion designer. She co-owns the Kimironko based Doda Fashion House with Canadian born designer St. Louis Johanne.
She reveals her agenda: "For this January, we’ve already worked on a collection of African shirts. For the rest of 2015, we will largely focus on expanding our market and improving production. We will also build capacity to satisfy our market.”
Film
Daniel Nsanzamahoro
Daniel Nsanzamahoro is a famous local film star, who is widely known for his role as a ringleader of a notorious gang of robbers in popular local thriller entitled, Rwasa
He says: "I want to shoot at least six more seasons for my series, Sakabaka. The two (seasons) that air on RTV are so far a success and I now want to work with other TV stations like TV10 and Lemigo. My videos will also be screened on Africa Magic this year.”
Art
Augustine Hakizimana (Uburanga Arts Studio)
Hakizimana is a talented painter. His work speaks of the creativity and vision of one of the talented young Rwandan artists. The combination of his unique vision and traditional Rwandan images and subject matter make for a truly worthwhile artistic endeavour.
Hakizimana says: "Our biggest event this year is the exhibition and a workshop in Italy. We are yet to confirm the date.”
