Kenyan side Sofapaka have signed former Police FC skipper Moussa Mutuyimana on a two-year deal ahead of the 2015 season that is expected to commence next month.

Mutuyimana, who was released by the law enforcers’ side after the Rwanda Football Federation (Ferwafa), banned naturalised players from featuring as Rwandans, unless they went through the legal process of attaining Rwandan nationality.

The Congolese midfielder joins former Gor Mahia forward Kevin Omondi, Willis Ouma from Chemelil Sugar and Nakuru All Stars midfielder Erastus Mwaniki as the new signings by Sofapaka coach Sam Timbe.

The Ugandan tactician, who guided Sofapaka to winning the GoTv Shield Cup last season after seeing off Posta Rangers in the final, also helped Sofapaka finish second in the Kenyan Premier League, a point behind champions Gor Mahia.

Sofapaka president Elly Kalekwa revealed that Mutuyimana has been a target for the Kenyan outfit and noted that his experience will come in handy as Timbe eyes a successful 2015 season.

Timbe, who is the only coach to win the Cecafa Kagame Cup with four different teams, is remembered for winning the regional title with the defunct Atraco FC in 2009 having beaten Sudan’s El Merreikh 1-0.

He also won the annual event with SC Villa in 2005 and the following year with Police FC of Uganda before another sensational win while at Yanga after the latter defeated Simba 1-0 in the final.
