Mukura Victory Sports forward Elie Tatou Iradukunda is arguably one of the best Rwandan football prospects to watch, as he continues to attract the attention of a number of clubs both in the domestic league and foreign teams.
The budding left footed winger has been in impressive form in the Black and Yellow shirt, scoring 6 goals and providing 5 assists in made 25 league appearances since last season.
The current 2023/24 season has seen him start all of Mukura VS six league games despite his young age. KAA Gent chief scout Harry Varley was watching from the stands when the youngster was in action on Tuesday, October 10 in a game against Sunrise FC.
The Belgian side is said to have shown interest in Iradukunda and a deal could be completed in the summer of 2024 if all goes according to plan.

Weekend Sport exclusively spoke to Iradukunda where he takes us through his footballing career, his life and future ambitions.

Tell us about yourself
I am Elie Tatou Iradukunda, I am 17 years old and I am Rwandese. I am the last born in my family, I&039;m a professional footballer, I can play in two positions, either in the right wing or as a forward.
How did your career start?
I started my career at Spark Victory Academy, from there I went to Mukura VS U20 and they promoted me to the senior team last season.
When did you realize that you have a talent enough to go professional?
I realized that I could play football as a profession when I was 14 years of age.
How does it feel like playing in the top flight league at this young age?
It's priceless to play in the league as a young footballer because it adds great value to your profile.
Who is your role model?
I have two role models. Obviously, it's Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr.
Who has inspired you most in your career?
My family has been a great blessing. They support and inspire me so much in my football career
How do you feel when you learn that the likes of Gent, Genk, Levante, Paderborn are interested in you?
Since the time I heard that, it has pushed me to work hard and it has shown me that everything is possible when you work hard and disciplined in what you do.
What inspires you most as a footballer?
My biggest inspiration is that I like football, it is my hobby and it is what makes me happy. That alone inspires me to go all out.
How did you combine football with school?
As I'm preparing myself to play outside Rwanda, I chose to study language courses.
Who is your best player both in Rwanda and in the world?
In Rwanda it's me, outside the country it's Messi.
-You are regarded as the best Rwandan player below the age of 20 in the league. Does it by any chance put pressure on you?
No there is no pressure, I'm calm.
As a young footballer what do you want to improve in your game?
As a winger, last season I made a good achievement as I scored 6 6oals and provided 5 assists. My Improvement going forward is going to be based on scoring more goals.
What should Rwandans and the world expect from Elie Tatou in the coming years?
I will make my country proud and I am looking forward to making historical records.
