On the morning of Friday, October 6, buses lined up on the Kigali-Musanze Road, transporting music lovers to Volcano Resort, where the much-anticipated second edition of Volkano Fest took place from October 6-8.

The Nyege Nyege-like event attracted hundreds of people from all over the world, headlined by both local and international acts, for a three-day camping experience at the Rock Resort.

The festival kicked off with special DJ sets and live performances, from Kaya Byinshii and Nephews Band to DJ Dub Jam from Germany, everything about the first day of the festival was satisfying.

The highlight of the festival was the second day, which featured performances from some of the country's best musicians and drew larger crowds than the first day of the festival.

Amazing performances from Marie Louise, Jyowani, MayLo, Otis Kayonga to Makembe, Bolingo, 1 Key, Angell Mutoni and B-They among others left their mark on the audience, which was heavily dominated by foreigners and the Kigali community.

Second day

On the second day of the festival, Checkmate surprised the stage with amazing beatboxing skills and instrumentals that had a rich sound that left the crowd wanting more, while Makembe's set was admired by the entire audience.

Next up was Otis, whose incredible looping vocals had the crowd singing along.

"His performance was the best of the whole festival," one reveler told The New Times.

When 1 Key took to the stage, accompanied by Nephew Band the crowd were chanting his name before he even took the mic.

Next up was Angel Mutoni, who gave a groundbreaking performance that had the crowd singing along to all of her songs.

She later introduced B-Threy to the stage and they all brought the vibes of Kigali to the festival stage.

The third day of the festival was more fun than the previous two days as it was headlined by Rwandan trap sensation Bushali, one of the pioneers of the famous Kinyatrap sub-genre that emerged from the streets of Kigali, Rwanda.

The festival also featured vendors of various brands selling their products, with a kids' zone catering to the youngsters who attended the festival with their parents.

Volkano Fest is a cultural movement that unites communities through the universal language of art. With each edition, it aims to spark imaginations, challenge perceptions and inspire positive change.
