Eastern Province-based Sunrise FC are not in a hurry to get a new head coach after parting ways with head coach Moussa Gatera two months ago, Times Sport has learnt.

The newly promoted side is currently under interim coach Thierry Nzunga, who was the assistant to Gatera and he is doing a good job since he took over.

Jean Marie Ntagwabira.

The club spokesperson, Mansoura Niyivuga told this paper that the team will remain in hands of Nzunga who will be working closely with Technical Director, Jean Marie Ntagwabira, who is also wanted by Tanzanian side Simba to be the assistant coach to Goran Kopunovic, formerly in charge of Police FC.

Gatera was sacked in early November following a failure to work well with the Technical Director, according to Niyivuga.

"We expect no change. The current acting coach (Nzunga) is performing well and he has an interesting partnership with the Technical Director (Ntagwabira). So, we will not change anything until he (coach) fails to manage the team towards getting good results,” Niyivuga said.

Since taking over, Nzunga has registered an unbeaten run in the last successive six league games.

He has got 10 points out of possible 18 points. The Rwamagana City-based Sunrise is currently 6th in the National Football League table with 15 points after 11 games played, and the club management has set a target of a top six finish this season.

Sunrise will visit Kiyovu Sport when the league resumes on January 6.
