AS Kigali Women Football Club head coach Grace Nyinawumuntu has stressed that she wants to see her team maintain its dominance of the National Women League for a sixth year in a row.
Nyinawumuntu made the remarks shortly after her team’s training match against AS Kigali junior boys’ team at Kigali regional stadium on Wednesday, which her side lost 4-0.
"We make commitments and set targets every year and our main objective next season is to retain the league title,” she said, adding that the friendlies are part of their preparations for the season that is due to start later this month at a yet to be confirmed date.
The City of Kigali-sponsored AS Kigali has dominated the national women league since 2009 and the former Rwanda women’s team centre back believes her team has every chance to win the league for a sixth consecutive year.
AS Kigali started preparations for next season earlier on December 1 last year and Nyinawumuntu, who also doubles as the She-Amavubi coach, says all her players are in good shape.
