Four clubs, namely Police, Nyakabanda, College of Education (formerly KIE) and Stella have confirmed participation in this year’s Rwanda Cup handball tournament slated for this Saturday at Kimisagara grounds, according to the Rwanda Handball Federation.
League winners Police will be keen to bounce back from their recent poor performance in the East and Central African Handball championship in Nairobi.
Police coach Antoine Ntabanganyimana, who guided his club to an unprecedented four trophies this year, told Times Sport that he aims to continue their prowess in the Rwanda Cup.
Nyakabanda won last year’s edition after beating APR in the final. Ferwahand secretary general Jean Paul Ngarambe expects competitive games with coaches preparing players for national team competitions next year.
"This tournament will help in identifying and preparing players who will play for national team in zone five tournament in Ethiopia in February,” Ngarambe said.
