Over 20 young employees from Deloitte Rwanda, an international consultancy and audit firm, last week donated basic items to patients in city hospitals and orphanages as part of the festive season outreach to help the disadvantaged people in society.

The group donated an assortment of items, including foodstuffs, toiletries, utensils and sanitary equipment to 50 patients at the University Teaching Hospital of Kigali (CHUK).

Winnie Kamarade, an associate from Deloitte, department of clients and industries, said the gesture aimed at giving back to the needy in the community.

After donating the items, the group visited the tuberculosis ward and intensive care unit.

According to Emmanuel Rwigamba, a tax associate at Deloitte, people understand better what companies do when they interface directly with employees.

"Besides auditing and taxation, the only way we can fully engage people is through these outreach programmes,” Rwigamba said.

Ingabire Esperance, one of the beneficiaries, appreciated the firm’s support, saying it was a good gesture for top businesses to care for the sick.
