“Intengo Awards”: The ball is in the court of the PSf

The Rwanda Information Technology Authority (RITA), on Friday launched the country’s first ever awards of excellence in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The move is aimed at encouraging more investments by the private sector in the field. It’s also aimed at supporting a knowledge - based economy. It is now common knowledge that success of many ventures in the public and private sectors largely depends on access to information. We now live in the information age and as a result, people with fast access to the right information are the most competitive. This is very important for the private sector. Therefore, Rwanda being a country committed to private sector led growth, has got its priorities right. The “Intengo Awards” should be embraced by all in the private sector.

The "Intengo Awards” should be embraced by all in the private sector.

The onus is now on the Private Sector Federation (PSF) to sensitize members of the private sector about the importance of investing in the (ICT) sector.

RITA has done something commendable and it is obvious that this will help to improve Rwanda’s aspiration to become the ICT hub in the region.

People in the private sector should commit their money to ICT with the full knowledge that the leadership of the country is behind them, as the commitment towards the development of ICT in Rwanda is well known.
